Do you find it hard to figure out what souvenirs to buy when traveling? I mean, there are so many options everywhere you go! There are literally entire STORES dedicated to selling you the perfect souvenir! #2 is my absolute favorite souvenir!!

But when you are travelling, you’re already most likely spending a lot of money on the trip (unless you follow my ways to get free travels), so you probably don’t want to spend a whole lot of money just to have a souvenir that might end up never being used.

Sooooo, after years of traveling, I have finally found the PERFECT souvenirs to buy that do not break the bank and I actually USE them!

Souvenir Ideas

I absolutely LOVE to travel! It’s so fun to see different people and places. I love to explore, experience new things and see the world through a new lens. Early on, I got the idea to buy a shot glass every time I travelled. For years, that was what I bought. Then, I transitioned into buying keychains. But honestly, both shot glasses and key chains were not ideal for me because I am not really a “knick knack” girl and they were piling up. Truly, you only need so many shot glasses and key chains. I ended up selling them at a garage sale.

The Perfect Souvenir to buy

About 15 years ago, I finally found the PERFECT souvenir to buy!! Below I am listing my top 5 favorite souvenirs. I will say, however, the my absolute NUMBER 1 FAVORITE souvenir is MAGNETS!

I LOVE to buy magnets to display my travels on my refrigerator! About 15 years ago, we went with my in-laws to Pier 39 in San Francisco. That was such a fun time and I found several gorgeous magnets at Pier 39! When we got home, I put them on the fridge to use to hang up my daughter’s drawings. The next vacation that we took, I found some magnets from that destination. Ash drew A LOT of pictures and, as her Mama, I hung them proudly on my fridge. That’s actually how I started buying magnets. I needed something to use to hang up my children’s drawings and schoolwork and it was fun having cute magnets along with it.

I love my souvenir magnets!

Magnet Souvenir Tradition

Somewhere along the way, it became a tradition. When we travel, I buy 1-3 magnets from that destination. Eventually, my kids got older and I no longer need to hang up their drawings. Now, my fridge is getting full of magnets from various travel destinations! It has become a goal of mine to fill it up completely.

I LOVE to sit at my kitchen table and just look at my magnets. It’s not about the THING. It’s about the MEMORIES! When I look at a magnet, it takes me back to that particular moment in time. I remember when the kids were little, where we went, and what we did. Have all of our travels been perfect? NO! Not at all. Each trip has had some sort of “oh my goodness moment”. However, that’s what makes them the best…spending time with the people we love. Experiencing LIFE with our favorite people.
